Murdo Fraser has been MSP for Mid-Scotland and Fife since 2001, making him currently the longest-serving Scottish Conservative MSP. He is Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Business, Economy, Tourism and Culture having previously held the portfolios of Education, Health, Finance, and Covid Recovery. He has previously been Convenor of both the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee and Coronavirus Committee at the Scottish Parliament.
Murdo was educated at Inverness Royal Academy and then at Aberdeen University, where he graduated in law. He had a successful career as a solicitor, specialising in commercial property, prior to entering Parliament.
Murdo lives in Perth with his wife and two children. His interests outside politics include history, football, hill walking, and classic cars.
