Faten Hameed Aldelemy was born in Iraq and moved to Scotland with her husband in the early 1980’s. She graduated from the Veterinary School at Glasgow University, however sadly her husband passed away and she was left to bring up three children on her own. As a widow single mother, she is not shy to admit that she has experienced very tough times in her life which has made her the women she is today. Faten will never forget that Scotland gave her a home and welcomed her with open arms. She has always been passionate about the fight for fairness, equality and justice. Devoting a lot of her time to provide the people of Glasgow a voice through empowering local communities, promoting opportunities for young people, supporting local businesses and to lobby for better services for the elderly and the homeless. Faten’s real life experience has created a pathway into politics, and she has strong ambition to help shape a Scotland that is equal for all as part of the UK.
