Brian Whittle is a Scottish Conservative MSP for South Scotland.
Brian grew up in Troon. After beginning a career as an industrial chemist, he changed direction entirely, becoming a professional athlete and is best known for winning a gold medal in a 4x400m relay with only one shoe and achieving a personal best. After retiring from athletics, he worked as a director of companies in various sectors including events management and healthcare technology.
Brian previously served as party spokesperson for Public Health, Mental Health, Wellbeing & Sport and Shadow Minister for Environment, Biodiversity & Land Reform. He is currently Shadow Minister for Public Health, Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport.
Brian’s policy interests include reducing inequality of opportunity, the green economy, the rural economy, and improving access to sport for all Scots.
