The Baroness Mobarik CBE holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Economic and Social History from the University of Strathclyde. She was appointed as a Conservative Member of the House of Lords in 2014. She served as a Government Whip from 2016 – 2017. From September 2017 till January 2020 she took leave of absence to represent Scotland as Conservative Member of the European Parliament sitting in the European Conservatives and Reformists Group. Having taken office in September 2017 she was subsequently re-elected in May 2019 in the European Parliamentary Elections. At the European Parliament she was a Member of the Committees on International Trade, Fisheries, and Culture respectively. In the previous term, she also served on the Sub-Committee on Human Rights and the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality and spoke on various Human Rights issues. In addition to her parliamentary duties, Nosheena was elected as Chairman of the Commonwealth Forum in September 2019. Despite Britain’s exit from the European Union she has been asked to continue in this role by Members of the European Parliament.

Prior to entering politics, Nosheena had a long career in business, founding M Computer Technologies with her husband in 1997. Nosheena has been active in a number of business, voluntary and charitable organisations over the years including being a former Member of Council of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in Scotland, serving on council from 2001 – 2011 and then as Chairman between 2011-2013.
Nosheena has had a number of accolades over the years including beings awarded an OBE in 2004, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, and awarded a CBE in the 2014 Birthday Honours, for her services to Business and Public Service in Scotland.
