Alexander Burnett has been the MSP for Aberdeenshire West since 2016 and is currently the Party’s Chief Whip.
Alex studied Law at Newcastle University before working in Azerbaijan for 9 years. He then returned to Aberdeenshire, where he lives with his wife and three children.
Alex understands first-hand the issues facing people in rural areas and advocates for improving connectivity, public transport, and protecting rural schools and health services.
Since becoming an MSP, Alex co-founded the Cross-Party Group on Autism in 2017 with his Conservative colleague Annie Wells to give a voice to autistic people and their families.
Before politics, Alex was well-known in Deeside through his business and community activities, including his involvement with Deeside RFC.
